Heat is the main one. Elastane relaxes as it warms, so a band that's firm in a cool room softens in a packed venue. Sweat and body oil reduce friction between fabric and skin. And sunscreen, body oil or fake tan applied before an event creates a slippery layer exactly where the band needs to grip, which is why tube tops slide more at summer festivals than at winter club nights.
Practical response: apply oils and sunscreen well before dressing so they absorb fully, and keep the band area drier than the rest if you can. A textured fabric like velvet grips skin better than smooth satin or slick synthetic.

Fabric choice affects how well a strapless top stays put more than it does on any other cut.
Spandex blends: The most reliable. Stretch plus recovery is exactly what a band needs, and higher spandex content means better grip over a long night.

With no straps or neckline detail to look at, color and texture carry the piece entirely. Solid shades read as a clean block, which makes bold colors more effective here than in cuts with more visual interruption. Wash cold and never tumble dry. Heat degrades elastane faster than anything else, and on a strapless cut that means losing the grip the whole garment depends on. Skip fabric softener, which coats the fibers and reduces recovery. Avoid wringing the band or hanging the top by its top edge while wet, since a wet garment's weight pulling on the elastic stretches it permanently.
Rinse after any event where sunscreen, body oil or fake tan was involved. Those break down elastane over time, and on a tube top the band takes the most contact with treated skin.
